POLICE have upped patrols following an "incident" involving a young woman in Wrexham.

Police launched a witness appeal following the "incident" which occurred on Monday morning in Cefn Mawr, and involved a 20-year-old woman.

Police have declined to give more information on the nature of the incident, but have reassured the community that it was isolated.

Detective Sergeant Michael Starkey said: “I would like to reassure residents in Cefn Mawr this was an isolated incident, and we do not have any wider concerns for the safety of the community.

“Foot patrols have been increased in the area for reassurance purposes and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

He added: “We are continuing to appeal to anybody who was in the area of the roundabout near to Tesco in Cefn Mawr around 6am on Monday morning to contact us via the website, or by calling us on 101, using reference number 24000555032.

“We will issue further updates as the investigation progresses.”
