HISTORY was made in Flintshire over the weekend as a town hosted its first-ever 'Pride' event.
On Saturday, June 22, Flint hosted its first Pride which was a showcase for the community at its best and brought people together in a supportive show of unity.
During what is also 'Pride Month' nationally, the streets of Flint came to life as businesses decorated their windows to show their support and a parade marched from town hall with Drag Queen icon 'Sha Ggerada' also present.
In 2021, Cllr Mel Buckley was appointed as the first openly LGBTQ+ Mayor of Flint.
Mel has been working with organisations across Flintshire to make Pride in Flint a reality.

Mel said: "History was made on Saturday as we held the first ever Flint Pride and I have been blown away by the overwhelming support that we have received.
"My vision was to have a small grassroots type of event but it soon became clear that Flint Pride was going to be bigger than anticipated, although still humble in comparison to others.
"But the message was the same, I wanted to celebrate the rich tapestry of diversity that makes up our town of Flint, I wanted everyone to feel welcome and safe and valued here in our town.
"I wanted to celebrate inclusion and kindness and to empower and embrace absolutely everyone. Look how progressive Pride has become, I was thrilled to see how many allies that we have got now and how their awareness has risen of the true struggle LGBTQ+ people throughout the world.
"Thanks go to everyone who contributed to the event, there was a lot going on behind the scenes to ensure that this was entirely self funded, through donations and raffles and auctions.
"Thanks to local shops and businesses who decorated their windows and displayed our posters. And thanks to our headliner Ian Davies whose contribution was immeasurable."
