WREXHAM AFC'S latest signing has received a number of messages from some big names after making the move to the STok Cae Ras.

Arthur Okonkwo proved to be a massive hit with the Wrexham faithful last season as he spent the campaign on loan from Premier League runners-up Arsenal.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper was a vital part of the side which secured promotion to EFL League One.

He made 40 appearances in all competitions, keeping 16 clean sheets as Wrexham finished second.

There was further personal recognition for Okonkwo too as he was named in the League Two Team of the Season along with Reds team-mate Elliot Lee.

And there was great news for fans of the club over the weekend as it was announced that Okonkwo had signed a three-year deal after being released by Arsenal.

But, many involved with the Gunners will not be forgetting him any time soon it seems.

Commenting underneath his post - Bukayo Saka, who scored 20 goals in all competitions for Arsenal just last season - said: "Go shine bro."

Legendary striker Ian Wright - who scored 185 goals for Arsenal - said: "Thank you for your time. I hope you have all the success the hard work you put in deserves."

Okonkwo spent 15 years at Arsenal, having first joined the academy there when he was just eight years old.

And he will still very much have ties to the north London club after leaving too, with younger brother Brian - also a goalkeeper - still playing in the academy.
