MEMBERS of Rhos Male Voice Choir have been puzzled by the disappearance of posters advertising their upcoming concert from sites around Wrexham.

The concert – at Rhos’s Stiwt Theatre – is set to take place on Saturday (June 22) at 7pm and will also features popular Welsh folk groups Hen Fegin and Sorela as well as soloist Linda Griffiths.

But choir members fear that many people will have missed hearing about the concert after posters mysteriously disappeared.

Choir secretary Paul Scott said: “We have noticed at a number of places round Wrexham city centre that posters seem to have been taken down – from places such as public notice boards.

“Choir members would put the posters up and when we went back to check the posters were gone.

"We don’t know who is responsible but we just wish they would stop.”

The concert will be a poignant return to the Stiwt for Rhos Male Voice Choir – their last concert there was the St David’s Day concert in March where accompanist Kevin Whitley played for the choir for the last time. He died just two weeks after the concert at the age of 50.

Musical Director James Llewelyn Jones said: “It will be great to be back on stage at the Stiwt – but it will be tinged with sadness as we remember Kevin. We knew he was ill at the St David’s Day concert but he was so determined that he would play that night. It really was a case of ‘the show must go on’.”

Sorela is an acapella folk trio featuring three sisters from Aberystwyth. They sing a bilingual, eclectic mix of traditional Welsh folk tunes, 90’s pop hits, 50’s classics and original works all in acapella

Tickets for the concert – priced £15 – are available from the Stiwt (01978 841300) or www.stiwt.com.

A limited number of tickets will be available on the door.
