WALKS in Wrexham, led by trained volunteers, offer weekly opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and meet new people.

Weekly walks in Wrexham, organised by the Walkabout Wrexham and District Volunteer Group, are available to everyone with no need to book in advance - just turn up on the day!

Weekly walks in Wrexham

Monday

Chirk

Meet at Caffi Wylfa on Castle Road in Chirk at 9.15am for a 9.30am start. This is an easier/moderate route over 2-2.5 miles avoiding steep hills where possible.

Rossett

Join the regular walkers each week at Burton Weir, Rossett by the underpass (LL12 0JA) at 10.45am for an 11.00am start. An easier walk of about 3 miles on local footpaths and through fields lasting about 60 minutes.

Tuesday

Alyn Waters Country Park, Gwersyllt 

Meet at the Visitor Centre at 10.15am for a 10.30am start (Car park charge £1). This is a more challenging walk over varying terrains in and around the country park.  Graded as moderate/harder depending on the route used, approximately 3-4 miles are covered over about 90-120 minutes.

Wednesday 

Chirk

Meet at Caffi Wylfa, Castle Road at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.  The walks are between 4-5 miles in length and are likely to include stiles, hilly paths and some difficult terrain underfoot. 

Coedpoeth 

Meet in the car park at Plas Pentwyn Community Centre in Castle Road at 10.45am for an 11.00am start.

Thursday

Acton 

A lovely social and friendly walk starting from St John's Church on Herbert Jennings Avenue and with refreshments afterwards. Meet at 10.45am for an 11.00am start. Join the striders, strollers or stragglers for a gentle walk of about 2 miles over 50-60 minutes.

Llay 

Join the walkers at the Llay Miners' Welfare Institute, The Ring, Llay New Road meeting inside in the small bar at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. Graded as an easier walk, it covers up to 2.5 miles and lasts up to 75 minutes. Using local footpaths and paths in and around Alyn Waters Country Park, this walk is suitable for beginners to walking and all ages.

Friday

Gwersyllt (second and fourth Fridays of the month)

Meet outside Gwersyllt Community Resource Centre at 10.15am for a 10.30am start. Graded as a moderate walk, it covers about 3 miles and lasts 75-90 mins with varied routes in the Moss Valley, in Alyn Waters and the surrounding scenic countryside.

Erddig

Meet in the Felin Puleston car park opposite Booker Wholesale on Ruabon Road at 1.15pm for a 1.30pm start. A moderate grade walk through Erddig National Trust Land covering about 3 miles over 90 minutes.
