A Wrexham garden centre is hosting free activities for kids this Summer.

UK leading garden centre Dobbies, has organised workshops at its Moreton Park store aimed to engage and entertain children.

The activities are free for families to participate.

The first summer session of Little Seedlings Club organised by Dobbies, begins on July 7.

The focus of this session will be on the minibeasts that live in the garden.

At the Garden Creatures workshop, kids will delve into the world of snails, spiders and beetles, gaining knowledge about their different habitats and fascinating defence mechanisms.

Along with that, children will discover the importance of pollinators, attracting them to your garden using lavender, which they can plant and take home.

Alongside the regular monthly workshop, there will be a Little Seedlings Holiday Club scheduled for various dates across August.

These aim to keep children learning, active and busy over the summer holidays.

Here, children will learn about butterflies while also doing in craft activities inspired by the insect.

By knowing where butterflies live, what they eat and their survival needs, children will get to learn the insect's life cycle from caterpillar to butterfly, and the role butterflies play in the garden ecosystem.

Dobbies’ Little Seedlings Club is designed to educate and inspire young gardeners aged between 4 to 10 years.

Robbie Williams, general manager at Dobbies is eager to welcome children to learn about the animals living in our gardens.

He said: "Summer is a fantastic season for the gardening calendar and a great time to get children interested in the wildlife around them.

"We know just how stretched families can be over the summer holidays, trying to find new and affordable ways to keep the kids entertained.

"The free sessions in our Moreton Park store are designed to be inclusive, fun and educational, and we hope that families across the country can head along to their nearest store to get involved."

The Moreton Park store will commence the club from Monday 12 to Friday 16 August.

Dobbies has also been searching for their new Little Seedling Club Ambassadors and calls young gardeners who want to inspire their peers to get into gardening to get in touch.

The lucky ambassadors selected will be the faces of Dobbies’ monthly workshops, writing blogs for their website and featuring in news articles and photos.

Applications close on June 23, and you can fill out a form on the website www.dobbies.com.
