THE second season of TV fantasy drama House of the Dragon, which was partly filmed in Gwynedd and Anglesey, will air next week.
A spin-off of Game of Thrones, the HBO programme was filmed at Trefor Granite Quarry, Penmon Point, Beaumaris, and Llanddwyn Beaches, and Porth y Cwch last June and July.
Its second season will be available on Sky and NOW in the UK from Monday, June 17.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘Fire & Blood’, House of the Dragon is set hundreds of years before the events of Game of Thrones, and focuses on the reign of House Targaryen.
Filming in North Wales came after Warner Bros Discovery, owners of HBO, offered “exciting and rare” job opportunities in the region for a three-month project, including extras roles.
The five-week shoot in North Wales saw more than 250 people from the area employed to work as crew members facilitated through CrewHQ, a Warner Bros. Discovery training initiative.
Executive producer Kevin de la Noy said: “It was great to be shooting in Wales with its stunning scenery and landscapes, that bring to life our Westeros.
“I had no hesitation in taking House of the Dragon there, as we knew the support from government and the local populous would help us achieve remarkable footage, and we were blessed with the most glorious weather too.
Season two of House of the Dragon was also filmed in:
- Bourne Woods, Surrey, England
- Cave Dale, Eldon Hill Quarry and Market Place, Castleton, England
- Castillo de La Calahorra, Granada, Spain
