FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house blaze in Flintshire overnight.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to the incident on Pine Way in Penyffordd at 12.40am on Thursday (June 13).
The blaze caused 100 per cent fire damage to the bedroom it started in, and smoke damage to the first floor of the property.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, NWFRS confirmed.
A spokesperson said the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is thought to be accidental.
Gemma Cain and Alex Rose, a young couple living next door to the affected property, praised the firefighters for their swift actions.
"They were amazing, we couldn't praise them highly enough," Gemma said. "They got here so quick and the fire was out within about an hour."
Deeside fire station was under threat of losing its 24/7 operational status.
Deeside’s fire station faced being closed at night as part of cuts to North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, a proposal which was shelved following a public consultation.
Gemma added: "It just goes to show how brilliant they are, and how important it was not to reduce the existing number of firefighters we have in the area.
"It was really frightening being woken in the night to it. But we're just glad the gentleman who lives next door got out ok."
