WREXHAM'S annual Walking Festival has completed yet another successful year.

With 23 walks on offer over nine days, more than 550 people joined in. All the walks were led by trained volunteers and were free of charge.

With good weather, walkers had the choice of a range of walks from a leisurely stroll round the streets of Wrexham viewing remains of the city’s past to longer more strenuous 8-14 mile challenges in the hills above the Dee Valley and in the Clwydian Range.

Afternoon and evening walks were very popular with over 30 people on many of them, everyone taking the opportunity to revisit familiar spots or explore new places in the Wrexham area.

There were also opportunities to walk round Brymbo, Coedpoeth and Minera, former industrial areas now beautiful countryside, and to admire the splendid views from Hope Mountain and Offa’s Dyke path.

Some people chose to explore the Chirk and Erbistock areas while others walked round Rhosllanerchrugog or Erddig Country Park where they were joined by Lesley Griffiths MS.

One group visited the Park in the Past at Hope and another chose to try Nordic walking under the guidance of Denbighshire Countryside rangers.

Whatever they chose, a good time was had by all and they now look forward to Wrexham Walking Festival in 2025.
