Wrexham: Appeal for help as cat rescue on brink of closing

Paul Conway, who runs the Candy & Tibby Trust, has rescued over 3,000 cats over the last five years.

However, he has said that the charity is on the brink of going out of existence due not having the finances to carry on.

"I don't want to (close it down) but as it stands it is not visible to carry on," he said.

"We used to get £3-4,000 a month and this still, if we had huge vet bills, ran us into debt. We are roughly getting £1,400-£1,600. 

"I have recently taken on premises so I can help more cats, but the heating and general running costs is going to add an extra £1,000 a month."

He added: "I can't run a rescue knowing the cats I have in our care are at risk if I am spending money for their food on further cases.

"We are at capacity and still I know of 30 cases needing help but we are getting no adoption enquiries, so we are bottle necked."

Paul said he has spent his "entire life savings" on the charity.

"It has come to a head when I couldn't afford to even treat my own terminally ill cat this week because I no longer had my own savings, he said.

"In a nutshell if we don't get regular substantial donations I can't carry on."
