A TEAM competing in the Tour of Britain Women cycling event has had their bikes stolen. 

The Lifeplus - Wahoo team took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that all 14 of their bikes were stolen overnight.

The team was staying at the MacDonald Hill Valley Hotel in Whitchurch, and had the bikes Ribble Endurance SLR bikes stolen from their mechanic's van.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "An investigation has been launched after we received a report of 14 Ribble Endurance SLR bikes being taken from the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel in Whitchurch overnight.

"We would encourage anyone who may have been in the area last night, and may have seen anything suspicious, to contact Shropshire’s Serious Acquisitive Crime Team by emailing dl-fshrewsburyproactiveunit@westmercia.police.uk."

 

Lifeplus - Wahoo posted a subsequent update saying they are able to compete in the Wrexham-leg of the race today due to spare bikes donated by other teams. 

The second leg of the event takes place in Wrexham today (Friday, June 7), with the city hosting the event for the first time. 

Yesterday riders raced from Welshpool to Llandudno, and tomorrow the race moves to Warrington before finishing in Manchester on Sunday.
