THE A55 has completely reopened following a serious collision between a HGV and pedestrian which left it closed overnight.
At approximately 5pm yesterday (June 4) a 'serious collision' was reported by Cheshire Police on the A55 near Chester.
The road was closed in both directions between Junctions 38 and 40.
Traffic remained at a stand-still while emergency services attended the incident, including air ambulance.
A diversion was put in place as long delays and heavy congestion placed a three-hour delay on motorists caught in the traffic.
National Highways confirmed the road eastbound would remain closed throughout the night between the Posthouse roundabout and the A41 turn off. The westbound reopened at approximately 6.40pm.
This incident is now clear, and the #A55 is now OPEN eastbound between the #A483 & the #A51.
