A GREEN fingered community group in Wrexham has begun a partnership with Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

Wrexham Community Gardeners gathered for the first time on Saturday (June 1) at the hospital to begin work on the site.

The group, which received funding courtesy of the Police and Community Trust (PACT) began work to spruce up areas around the front entrance.

The main revolving door at the site remains closed following an RTC last December.

Members of the group got together at the hospital and began work, with more scheduled in the future.

A spokesperson for the Wrexham Community Gardeners said: "Saturday, June 1 was not only the first day of the month and the first day of meteorological summer, but the first day that Wrexham Community Gardeners began gardening at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

"Having received some funding from the Police and Community Trust, whereby proceeds of crime are turned into good within the community, work began to make beautiful the areas around the front entrance.

"People from all parts of the local community stepped up to do the work and their smiles at the end of the first morning told it all.

"They expressed an overwhelming sense of achievement and new friendships were being formed.
