The most popular baby names in Wrexham from 2022 have been revealed.

According to the Office for National Statistics, Elsie has been crowned the most popular girl's name in the area, replacing Olivia from 2021.

There were nine proud parents who chose this name for their baby girl.

Archie, Freddie, and Noah became the top three boys' names chosen by parents.

In total, there were 36 boys in Wrexham named either Archie, Freddie, or Noah.

This differed from the previous year when Noah stood alone on the top of the list.

Babies' names of Welsh origin also made their mark in 2022, including Mali, Seren, and Eira for girls, and Arthur, Osian, Elis, Harri, and Jac for boys.

James Tucker, head of health analysis at the Office for National Statistics said: "Noah was the most popular name for boys in 2022, for the second year in a row, having replaced Oliver at the top in 2021."

Across the country the top names for boys included Muhammad, George, Oliver, and Leo, while for girls, Olivia, Amelia, Isla, and Ava were popular.

Lily also leapt forward from seventh place in 2021 to fifth in 2022.

Mr Tucker added: "Theodore, Theo and Freddie are three new entries into the top 10 boys' names in 2022.

"Isabella is the only new entry into the girls' top 10."
