Talking about the incident, Police Community Support Officer for the Wrexham Rural area, Enya Bellis-Jones, said: "Whilst travelling on the A483 Southbound last night, Officers spotted the driver of this vehicle using his mobile device.
"He was duly stopped and issued a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) where he will be dealt with for his actions and possibly face points on his license along with a hefty fine.
"What's worse is the weather had dramatically changed and the driving conditions became very wet.
"Using a mobile phone whilst driving is not only an offence, but is also dangerous to the driver themselves and other road users - Please, concentrate on the roads!!"
Using a mobile phone while driving is considered to be one of the 'fatal five' offences.
It reduces hazard perception and concentration which then increases the risk of a collision.
The other offences which make up the 'fatal five' are; speeding, drink/drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and dangerous/anti-social driving.
