A CASHIER at a supermarket in Wrexham has been praised for her "beautiful" gesture towards a young man with severe autism.

Daniel Williamson, aged 26, has severe autism and global development delay, and has very little speech.

He was shopping Morrisons with his mum, Janice, when they went to the checkout to have their items scanned.

Janice said: "Normally Daniel likes to count how many items we have. The lovely cashier asked would he like to go on the till.

"He was ecstatic as he's never been on a till before. As a parent of a special needs person you often get judged so it’s nice to get some kindness. People underestimate people with autism. It was lovely to get some understanding."

After news of the kindness was shared on the Wrexham Matters group on Facebook, people commented praising the cashier for her "beautiful" and "heart warming" act of kindness.

One person said: "This is fab but I’m not surprised, I don’t even know this lady but when I go every morning after the school run she’s always so kind, takes her time and has a chat with you."

Another added: "What a lovely gesture. Well done indeed."
