WREXHAM Legends FC faced off against North Wales Fire Service in a charity match at Queensway. 

More than 1,000 people came out to support the event, which was put on in aid of the Mayor's charity on Sunday (May 12).

As well as the match between the sides, there were various attractions for all to enjoy including a a fun fair and food outlets. 

It was the Wrexham legends who claimed the inaugural Mayor of Wrexham Clogau Charity Cup in the blazing sunshine.

The team boasted former Wrexham stars such as Steve Evans, Ryan Valentine, Lee Fowler, Neil Ashton, Mark McGregor, Stephen Wright and Waynne Phillips.

End to end football saw the North Wales Fire Brigade take an early lead only for the Wrexham Legends to score an equaliser mid way through the first half.

Despite missing a penalty, the legends side did take the lead before half time to make it 2-1 at the break.

There was plenty more attacking football on show before Wrexham Legends made it 3-1 midway through the second half and that is how the game finished. 

Charities being supported are Wales Air Ambulance, Nightingale House Hospice, Blood Bikes, and Guide Dogs Cymru.

Actor and Film Producer,  Jack Marsden sponsored the Match Ball and said: "It is great to support such a fantastic community event and for the Wrexham fans who might not get the chance to see the first team play can still feel part of the 'buzz' in the city and helping local charities.
