A MAN who admitted a high value burglary near Llangollen is to be sentenced in the Crown Court.
Ian Edwards, of no fixed abode, was produced in custody at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Monday.
The 58-year-old admitted that on May 6, he entered a property in Woodlands Road, Froncysyllte, as a trespasser and stole a safe containing cash and jewellery worth £18,000.
Prosecutor Justin Espie invited the Magistrates to send the matter to the Crown Court for sentence, explaining the starting point for sentence lay outside the powers of the lower courts.
He said: "This is a high value domestic burglary.
"The Crown says it was opportunistic, with no element of planning."

Laura MacMillan, defending, agreed with Mr Espie's request regarding sentencing venue.
As such, the court adjourned the sentencing to June 6 at Mold Crown Court.
Edwards was remanded in custody until that date as no application for bail was made.
