AN ACCLAIMED Wrexham pub has been placed up for sale as its owners say "it’s time to think about an exit".

The Hand at Llanarmon has been listed for sale with Sidney Phillips at a price of £1.3million.

For the last decade, the award-winning pub has been run by Jonathan and Jackie Greatorex.

The pub, which once welcomed 007 Sir Roger Moore for a meal, has become well-renowned for its fine dining, getting two AA rosettes for its food and often featuring in the annual Michelin Guide.

It also opened a spa in recent years and secured AA 4 star gold standard for its 13 letting rooms, as well as being named one of Britain's most cosiest pubs for a perfect winter lunch.

While the pub has been placed up for sale, its owners have said it's not goodbye yet.

Jonathan said: "We are incredibly proud of the product that we have created and the achievements we have made over the past ten years: AA 4 star gold, two rosettes, the opening of the Spa to name a few, but it’s time to think about an exit and whilst we’re not in a hurry to sell it’s time to put the wheels in motion.

"If it takes a number of years to find the right buyer then so be it. The Hand is a magical place and to paraphrase a famous watch maker, you never really own The Hand, you merely look after it for the next generation."

He added: "It’s an immense privilege to be here and we love the place dearly and want to make sure that it’s handed over to the right people."
