• Drury Primary School
THERE is a creative welcome at the Flintshire school, and every pupil has contributed to its design.
Taking a prominent position in the reception area of Drury Primary School, is a spectacular new wall mural.
The colourful display, featuring a pair of dragon heads, includes a piece of done art by every child currently at the school.
Headteacher Elizabeth Jones said: “The children take great pride in their school.”
As part of their’s 50th anniversary celebrations this year, the project was put together by Buckley artist Mary Saifelden.
Mary was thrilled to be asked to help, having links to the school herself.
She said: “I have a lot of time for Drury School, both my children went there, so this is me giving back to the school for doing such a great job. Headteacher Liz Jones was my son’s favourite teacher, he still has high regard for her now and has recently been to see her.
“It was so lovely working with all the children and getting to know them all individually, they were all so very well behaved and a credit to the school.
“I see the children in the village and they all come over and say hello.
“I think Liz is doing a wonderful job as headteacher. Drury is such a lovely village and it was an honor to have been a part of the school project.
“My grandchildren are now going to Drury School, one of them in nursery and twins will be starting nursery in September.”
The school is also blossoming outside, with new blooms the planters, and a sea of wildflowers as they support ‘no mow May’ to help encourage bees and butterflies. It helped play a role in their work around recent word of the week - endangered - in supporting wildlife.
Drury School also benefited from a recent ‘freshening up’, which has included new flooring and paintwork.

• Ysgol Rhiwabon, Wrexham
Year 8 and 9 students spent the day learning about the cotton mill in Quarry Bank Mill.
Students experienced the apprentice house where 90 children slept and ate after a 12-hour day in the mill. They saw the different stages of manual cotton production, and then how it changed with the Industrial Revolution and the invention of machines, with students experiencing the noisy conditions that these children worked in.
A representative from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) delivered a STEM-based challenge to Year 9 pupils.
The challenge highlighted important life skills such as teamwork, communication and problem solving.
• St Ethelwold's VA School, Deeside
It's been fun getting up close to nature for pupils, who have been exploring the outdoors and in the forest area at the school.
Children from Years 4, 5 and 6 had something to celebrate, having successfully completed a first aid awareness course.
