FLINTSHIRE Council is reducing the number of days its five Household Recycling Centres (HRC) are open per week.
The council's HRCs are reducing from being open seven days a week down to five days a week.
The changes come into effect on Monday, May 6 and the council has said the decision was taken in light of the budget position and has been put forward to reduce costs while also preserving jobs.
Various factors have been carefully considered in revising the opening days and hours, including site usage patterns, operational efficiency, traffic counts, and the need to deliver HRC services within the agreed, reduced available budget.
The revised opening days are as follows:
Mold, Oakenholt and Sandycroft
Monday - Open
Tuesday - Open
Wednesday - Closed
Thursday - Closed
Friday - Open
Saturday - Open
Sunday - Open
Greenfield and Buckley

The council has answered the following questions regarding the HRC:
What should I do if the site I usually use is closed when I need it?
There are no restrictions on what site you can use, if your nearest site is closed, people are urged to use your next available site. On the occasion when all sites are closed (Wednesday) please store your materials safely at home until the next available day for disposal. Please note that this does not apply to those with a vehicle or trailer permit.
Can I just leave my items at the gate if the site is closed?
No, you will need to take your waste to an alternative site or store it safely at home until you can dispose of it correctly. Any waste left outside of HRC gates will be deemed as fly tipping and can be prosecuted against. In order to monitor this, the HRC sites have CCTV at all entrance points.
I have a vehicle permit for a specific site, can I use another site if my designated site is closed?
No, you will need to store your waste safely at home until you can dispose of your items correctly at the site specified on your vehicle permit.
I can only get to my designated permit site on a Tuesday but it is closed, can I use another one?
No, you will need to store your waste safely at home until you can dispose of your items correctly at the site specified on your vehicle permit. If you can only use your designated site on the day it is closed you can request a permanent change of site to your vehicle or trailer permit if required, please contact streetsceneadmin@flintshire.gov.uk
Will there be any impact on the county's recycling performance?
The council does not anticipate any impact on Flintshire's recycling performance.
