A CHESHIRE pub has been recognised among the best gastropubs in the country in a new list by Estrella Damm.
The White Horse pub in Churton, near Holt, part of the Elite Bistros group, has been selected as for the Estrella Damm’s Top 50 Gastropubs list, albeit confusingly at number 68.
The Spanish beer brand has compiled the list – which features 100 locations in total – showcasing some of the finest food-focused pubs in the UK.
The Churton pub is the only Cheshire location on this year’s list.
Of the White Horse, Estrella Damm says: “The White Horse serves uncomplicated, unpretentious and delicious food. The seasonal menu features comforting bistro dishes as well as Elite Bistro classic such as its Crème Brûlée.”
The pub is the first location of its kind for Elite Bistros who have several successful restaurants across the North West, including the popular Sticky Walnut in nearby Hoole.

As with several Elite Bistros locations, the project to reopen the White Horse was crowd funded, with more than £200,000 being raised for the pub's refurbishment.
The refurbishment was documented by Elite Bistros founder, chef Gary Usher, who was at the site almost every day.
Following the completion of the refurb, the White Horse opened in spring 2023.
