THE FAMILY of a young boy from Wrexham say they "can't thank people enough" after their fundraising target was hit.
Four-year-old Louis Perrin was born with a rare genetic condition called TUBA1A.
As well as having epilepsy and cerebral palsy, the young Wrexham AFC fan suffers from painful leg spasms and limited mobility leading him to become dependent on a wheelchair.
His family are needing to adapt their home to support Louis and meet all of his medical needs, which will cost approximately £40,000.
A JustGiving page was set up by Wrexham Police ahead of an upcoming charity fixture, as well as a number of other fundraising efforts taking place in an attempt to meet the £40k target.
The fundraising efforts for Louis sparked national interest, with donations coming in from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Marc White and Michael Sheen.
All of which has resulted in the £40,000 target being hit, much to the delight of Louis' family.
The money will be used to fit a downstairs bedroom with an attached wet room and raise the level in the garden to make it easier for Louis to move from the home to the garden, among other things.
With work set to start in the coming weeks, Louis' mum, Charlotte Perrin has told the Leader how pleased she is to have hit the target.
She said: "We can't believe how quick it's taken the community of Wrexham and beyond to pull together and go above the target in just seven weeks.
"It makes me so proud and privileged to bring up my family here, and we're so grateful for the time and effort that friends, family, colleagues and strangers have put in to make this all possible.
"We just can't thank people enough.

"The work will be starting on the extension for Louis' bedroom and wetroom in a few weeks, and we're so excited and relieved to have it happening so soon. It's going to make such a difference to Louis.
"The target amount isn't the whole amount to make all of the changes Louis needs, so anything on top now is a bonus for equipment and changes to make the garden accessible.
"We still have fundraising events ahead which we're really excited for."
