A TABLETOP sale is being held in aid of a food poverty charity left fighting to stay in existence after its delivery vans were stolen.
Given To Shine, which delivers food parcels to people in need in Flintshire and Wrexham, recently had two vans stolen in Hawarden.
The charity feeds some 2,500 people a week - but is unable to make its vital deliveries after the van thefts, with its other vehicle awaiting repair.
A spokesperson for Given To Shine said: "We’ve got people messaging with no food, begging for help and unfortunately we’re having to signpost elsewhere where possible.
"But a lot of the time this isn’t feasible as they can’t travel or other projects are too far away/not easily accessible by public transport/they can't afford public transport."

And for the charity, it's not a case that any old van will do. They said: "We have to use temperature controlled vehicles for food safety, and can’t afford the additional insurance.
"We’re still paying insurance on the stolen vans because there’s no resolution, and unless the vans are recovered our premiums are going to soar, hence needing to raise a lot of money as fast as possible - this could be the end of our organisation.
"The thieves haven’t considered the widespread impact to thousands, nor the financial implications to us, they’ve just taken what they wanted."
To help the charity raise the vital funds it needs, a tabletop sale is taking place next month at Wrexham and District War Memorial Club, situated on Farndon Street.
The event will run on Sunday, April 7 between 11am and 3pm. To book a sales table, please ring 07967341427 (please note - this number is for solely enquiries about tables, not food parcels relating to the charity itself).
All proceeds will go towards the charity repairing its other van and the increased insurance costs and replacements of the stolen vans.
