A LOVING sibling has presented life-saving equipment to a care home in memory of her twin sister.

Betty Jones, a dearly-loved friend and family member from Wrexham, sadly passed away at the White House Care Home on Grove Road earlier this year.

She had been residing in the care home for only three-months following her devastating cancer diagnosis.

When her twin sister, Jackie, and her brother-in-law, Gareth, were asked what was most important to them by a family solicitor after Betty's passing, little did they know that their answer would go on to inspire many.

Jackie said their greatest need was an AED defibrillator.

After seeking support from the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust (WAST) and the NHS Trust, Jackie was able to present the life-saving device to the care home in Betty's memory.

Betty grew up with her twin sister Jackie in Caego, Wrexham, before attending schools in New Broughton and Coedpoeth.

She left school aged 15 to train as a tailor where she stayed for a number of years before moving onto various jobs in and around Wrexham.

Betty loved animals dearly and over the years had a number of dogs. More recently in her life she also had a group of friends who used to meet regularly with their pets.

Following Jackie's request in honour of her sister, the care home has since been presented with an AED defibrillator with the assistance of Tomos Hughes from WAST and the NHS Trust.

Debra Davies, manager of the White House Care Home, said: "For us to have a defibrillator is amazing as we had been trying to fundraise for one as very often we are sent either to Yale college or Nightingale house to grab one.

"Now, we have the access of the AED, knowing we have it to use at the Home for staff/residents/visitors and also to facilitate local citizens to provide life saving first aid in our area.

"We also have a memorial plaque sitting above the defibrillator pride of place in our reception area ready for use."
