• Ysgol Sychdyn
During their Welsh Week focused on protecting their cynefin (habitat), children at the Flintshire primary school reacted to a local news story.
Following the (just for fun) article in their school newspaper, Year 3/4 discovered their local field and surrounding areas is being developed into 'Bagnall’s Shopping and Retail Park'.
The story detailed plans for the retail park to expand with a multi-screen cinema and restaurant. While the proposals would create jobs, improve transport links and provide parking, some fear at too much cost to the local area itself.
Throughout the week, the class will need to assess sound and light quality, environmental factors, and capture the thoughts of their community to try and protect their village, much beloved park and their cynefin.
• Golftyn CP School, Connah's Quay
The children in Year 6 were set a task over the Christmas holidays of starting their own business with just £1.
In total, pupils raised an impressive £1,158, using their business ideas, such as pizza making and selling, bracelet making and sales, and odd jobs around people's homes.
The school plans to use the money for the children to enjoy in their last year at the Deeside primary, including taking them out on a fun-filled day out that they have voted for themselves.

• Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Gwersyllt
Last week saw graduation day for participants of the Children's University pilot project, with students from the Wrexham school taking part.
Zoe Cooper, assistant head of English, said: "We were so proud to have 12 students to represent Ysgol Bryn Alyn. These students worked incredibly hard in their spare time to enhance their learning, develop new skills and contribute to the wider community in order to earn 30 hours' worth of extra-curricular activities and graduate!
"Our students took part in all sorts of activities, from cooking to karate, football to fencing and were recognised with an invitation to an amazing graduation ceremony at William Aston Hall.
"These clever YBA-ers had the opportunity to wear graduation robes, complete with scroll and mortarboard, and have their photo professionally taken.
"The ceremony itself was led by vice-chancellor Prof Maria Hinfelaar of Wrexham University, who spoke about the importance and value of the Children's University.
"Parents and family members were also invited to attend and were able to watch their child take to the stage to receive their award.
"The ceremony concluded with a video of some very famous people personally congratulating the participants, including Hollyoaks actors Carley Stenson and Danny Mac, and football heroes Aaron Hayden and Harry Wilson. Afterwards, they were treated to a well-deserved celebration lunch at the Maesgwyn Hall.
"Well done to these wonderful students: we are so proud of you!"
Graduation day
Joining hundreds of youngsters last week, graduation from the North Wales Children’s University, were more pupils from Wrexham and Flintshire
From Ysgol Rhiwabon, Year 7 students Emily Ruby Aston and Lily Grace Evans, both graduated. They earned this by taking part in more than 30 hours of extra curricular activities, or voluntary work, in the community.
Both students attended the graduation, hosted by Wrexham University and were presented with their graduation certificate by the vice chair of the university, Maria Hinfelaar, whist friends and family watched.
Staff at Ysgol Sychdyn, in Flintshire, expressed their pride for some of the school's pupils who also graduated from the North Wales Children’s University, stating on social media: "Well done for your hard work, dedication and commitment to developing new skills. We are very proud of you!"
