THE ANNOUNCEMENT that a new gym is set to open in Wrexham's city centre has stirred much excitement and curiosity from residents.
Owners of Wrexham's Foundry Gym Jennifer Mary Daniel and Ross Whetton are thrilled to be managing the new branch at Eagles Meadow.
The UK Leisure Centre company will be opening their business in Wrexham in approximately 12 to 14 weeks with an exact date to be confirmed soon.
Both Jennifer and Ross' parents are originally from Wrexham making it a huge motivation for the pair to bring the Foundry Gym name to the city.
It has now also been confirmed that the gym will be occupying Unit B1B, the former Sports Direct building, next door to the former M&S building after much speculation it would be moving to the empty Debenhams store.
Over £500,000 is being invested on new equipment to create the gym which will be open 24/7 and will offer free parking at Eagles Meadow for all members.
Memberships will cost £28.99 per month on a no contract basis, although Foundry will be offering early joiners a discount on pre sales with further information coming soon.
Over 80 pieces of equipment will be featured including some of the best machines from around the world. The gym will offer weightlifting, cardio equipment and functional training.
Foundry Gym's have grown from two sites five-years-ago to now having ten locations across the UK.
A spokesperson said: "Our plan for 2024 is to open another five sites around the UK. Each gym is run by individual owners as we have a franchise based business model.
