THE POPULAR annual 'Potato Day' in Flintshire was a smashing success once again.
Once again the annual Potato Day in Mold was busier than ever, attracting both local growers and those from across the region.
Diana and Colin Jones had come all the way from Anglesey for the event. They said: “We’ve got three allotments and also grow exhibition standard dahlias.
"There’s nothing like Mold Potato Day over in our area with so much choice, which is why we enjoy coming.”
The event held in the Daniel Owen Centre on Saturday, February 17 was hosted by community growers FlintShare, who grow produce on three sites in the county at Cilcain, Hawarden and Northop.
Eddie Davies, a member of FlintShare said: “I really like being part of a community growing scheme as we’re not individually responsible for the crops but can share in the success and failure of the food we produce.”
Matthew Smith of Brighter Blooms in Preston provided an incredible selection of over 80 types of seed potato, garlic and onion sets as well as fruit trees and bushes for sale.
The event was well attended, including by the Mayor of Mold, Teresa Carberry who’s a keen gardener and was impressed by the wide range of produce.
