WREXHAM Council has issued an update on potential school closures tomorrow (Thursday, February 8).

All schools in Flintshire are closed on Thursday amid an amber warning for snow and ice which is covering large parts of the county.

In Wrexham, Ysgol Rhosnesni has announced it will be closed tomorrow.

Wrexham Council has said, at this stage, all other schools remain open - but encouraged parents to check the council's website tomorrow morning.

A spokesperson said: "We have a yellow warning for snow now extending a little further south and this kicks in tomorrow morning until Friday morning.

"A further amber warning has now been received for the western part of the county borough spreading into Shropshire, this is for snow and ice and starts tomorrow at 8am until 3 in the afternoon.

"We have the teams ready to roll and anticipate continual shouts this evening, early hours and then into the day tomorrow.

"Parents should check our website to check if their child’s school is closing via https://www.wrexham.gov.uk/school-status"
