WINDS of almost 50mph are expected in some parts of North East Wales today.

According to the Met Office, Monday (February 5) will be "generally cloudy with periods of drizzle at times, mainly over higher ground."

A spokesman explained: "Some brighter breaks are possible, especially at first and to the east of hills.

"Breezy, and becoming rather windy in places, but another mild day for February. Maximum temperature 10 °C."

The organisation predicts that at its highest, the wind gust (the highest speed which could be encountered as winds peak and lull) in Mold could be around 43mph - whilst in Wrexham it could reach 49mph.

Looking ahead, across Wales the weather is expected to be "largely cloudy overnight with occasional drizzle, mainly in western areas."

The Met Office expects that clearer spells are possible at times in eastern and especially north-eastern parts of Wales.

That said, it will still be "windy with coastal gales," while staying mild.

Tuesday is expected to see bright spells during the morning in the east.

Otherwise it will be cloudy with heavy rain arriving in the north by early afternoon, reaching the south by the evening. Windy, with coastal gales.

It should be drier and brighter on Wednesday, with a patchy frost at first.

And the Met Office says there is "some uncertainty to end the week" but probably turning unsettled and breezier with rain and perhaps snow in places.
