A PORTION of the A5 between Oswestry and Chirk is set to see lanes closed for a month to allow litter picking to take place.
National Highways has officially announced, via the traffic website One.Network, that mobile works will be taking place between Oswestry's Mile End Roundabout to the Wrexham Boundary.
The closures will allow Shropshire Council to pick the litter in the area, with the work set to last from Monday, February 5, until Friday, March 1.
The activity will take place from 9.30am until 3.30pm including Bank Holidays on the near six-mile stretch.
Commuters and residents in the affected area are advised to plan their travels accordingly, considering the potential impact on their daily routines during this month-long road closure.
More works are set to create delays north of Oswestry, as the A5 will also be closed from 9pm on Monday, February 12, until 6am on Wednesday, February 14, in both directions from Wolfshead roundabout to Felton Butler roundabout.
This closure is due to drainage works – but a diversion has been put in place and is available on the National Highways website.

Other closures in the Oswestry and surrounding areas will also slow down traffic and possibly create delays.
National Highways has also reported that the A483 will also be closed for a number of days.
The closure, due to urgent two way traffic signals for works on behalf of BT, between Pant and Llynclys, has began on Thursday, January 29, and is set to last until Tuesday, February 6, at 4pm with delays of under 10 minutes.
Stay updated for any developments or official announcements regarding alternative routes or adjustments to the closure schedule.
