A POPULAR Italian restaurant in Wrexham will sadly be closing its doors next month.
Gusto d’Italia, based in Ty Pawb for the last three years, has announced it will be closing down in February.
The restaurant announced the news "with a heavy heart" on its social media pages.
A statement said: "In February 2021 two brothers along with their late father wanted to bring fresh authentic Italian food to the people of Wrexham. From starting as a takeaway from Paolo's home kitchen to quickly securing our premises in Ty Pawb which we refurbished to a quaint idealistic bistro, we achieved our goal of bringing true Italian cuisine to Wrexham.
"For the last 19 months our bistro has shared some amazing memories with our customers, from baby announcements, birthdays to just simple good times. But since June there was something missing - our Dad and it's just not the same. His presence and having conversations and sharing his stories with customers is something that is sorely missed."

It added: "We are forever grateful for the support we've received from day one, and of course none of this would have been possible without our amazing team who have offered excellent service to our wonderful customer base.
"Over the next three weeks we will be hosting some of our last ever events, such as taster evenings, bottomless brunches and our Cicchetti menu. We want to bow out in style!"
Gusto d'Italia's team has announced that they are embarking on a new venture following the restaurant's closure.
The statement said: "This may be the end of Gusto d'Italia but a new concept that we have been working on tirelessly in the background is coming - along with a new cheffing and management team.
"All will be revealed in due course - but this is a very exciting new eatery concept for the people of Wrexham."
Dozens of people commented on Gusto d'Italia's post, expressing their sadness at the news of its closure.
They included Wrexham's Member of the Senedd, Lesley Griffiths. She said: "So sorry to read this. We had a lovely meal two weeks ago. Always warm and friendly with great food. Good luck with the next chapter!"
Another person added: "Gutted, best pizza in Wrexham." A further comment said: "This is truly a loss for Wrexham, those pizzas made our weekends and were the best for miles! Thanks so much for that pleasure and best of luck with new adventures."
