A GROUP of litter pickers say they have come across 'a lot' of clothes and toys which have been ''dumped' in Wrexham after the festive period.
'Wrexham Litter Pickers', formed in January 2021, is made up of volunteers who work hard to keep streets, green spaces and rivers in Wrexham free from pollution.
In 2023, the team added another 1,224 bags of rubbish to its collection tally to take it past the 15,000 mark since it formed.
The most bags picked during a single group pick last year was on March 26, when the team collected 60 bags full of rubbish and also retrieved a motorbike!
And that trend has continued on into 2024 with the team already having been busy clearing up some of Wrexham's most polluted areas.
One of the concerns they have raised is regarding Christmas items being discarded.

The team says that January brings with it a lot of unwanted toys and clothes being strewn about.
A statement from the Wrexham Litter Pickers read: "Out with the old! In January, we see a lot of dumped clothes and toys. Mindless consumption becomes pollution. We must do better."

Last weekend (Sunday, January 14), a team of 27 litter-picking volunteers took over 100 bags worth of rubbish off the streets and green spaces of Wrexham.
They tackled rubbish at areas such as Plas Madoc, Brymbo, Industrial Estate, Rhos and Berse Lane.
Fake grass, sunglasses and needles were among items collected by the team.
