CHILDREN at a Flintshire school raised money for Nightingale House Hospice by taking part in their own version of the Rudolph Run.
Teachers at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd in Flint adapted the concept to suit the needs of the children and raise money for a local charity.
Karen Jones, a teacher at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd explained why it is important for children to get involved in charity events.
She said: "Students, parents and staff at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd are always keen to help raise money for such a valuable local charity. As part of our curriculum, we teach about the importance of helping others, so supporting Nightingale House Hospice in such a fun way is a wonderful way of putting this into practice!"
After the weather interrupted their plans, Karen discussed their innovative thinking, adding: "Unfortunately, due to the British weather, we weren't able to do our planned run. Instead, we held a Reindeer Hunt where the pupils had to find hidden pictures of reindeer displayed around the school.
"All pupils thoroughly enjoyed this activity. We also used the reindeer costume, and each class had a visit from the 'reindeer', which they thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks so much to Nightingale House Hospice for allowing us to take part!"

During the festive period, 19 schools and nurseries, two running groups, an under-12s football team, and Coleg Cambria participated in the Rudolph Run. These events raise critical funds to support patient care at Nightingale House Hospice, in Wrexham.
Chloe Deacon, community fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice, said: "We are so thrilled that the incredible pupils and teachers at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd have chosen to hold another Nightingale House Hospice event, this time sporting their very impressive Rudolph antlers.
"We are so grateful for their support; every pupil is a wonderful ball of joy. We love working with them and particularly love working with Karen.
"How she adapts our campaigns to suit the children, ensuring that they not only raise money for the hospice but also that every child can be involved and enjoy themselves, is amazing. Thank you, Ysgol Maes Hyfryd."
