THE NORTH East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) team has been reflecting on another busy year in 2023.
NEWSAR is a non profit organisation which relies solely on donations made by members of the public.
Its team of volunteers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and parts of Conwy and Powys.
With 2024 now upon us, the team has shared some of its statistics from the year gone by.
In total, it dealt with 73 call-outs throughout the region.

The call-out breakdown was as follows;
- 51% of callouts happened midweek
- 49% of callouts happened over the weekend
- Total number of hours assisting people in need; 3,396
- Total number of hours team members have been training and fundraising in 2023; 2,113
A statement from NEWSAR added: "We would like to thank all of our team members for dedicating their time on a voluntary basis to help those in need and also a huge thank you to everyone who’s assisted in our fundraising efforts and donations throughout 2023."
