SEVERAL Wrexham AFC fans have been left frustrated after missing out on tickets for their huge FA Cup clash at Shrewsbury Town.

Reds fans have taken to social media to vent their disappointment at not having bagged a ticket to the match against their bitter rivals, which will take place at the Croud Meadow on Sunday, January 7.

Away tickets for the FA Cup third round tie went on sale to Wrexham season ticket holders and club members during two separate slots on Monday (December 18), but - predictably - sold out within minutes.

Wrexham have been allocated 1,655 tickets for the match, and supporters will be situated in the DM Recruitment Stand.

There was no online queuing system in place for supporters purchasing tickets, so all they needed to do was log on to the e-ticketing website at the appropriate times (10am and 2pm).

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news of a sell-out, Wrexham AFC said: "All away tickets for our Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie against Shrewsbury Town has now sold out. Thank you for your continued support."

Writing underneath that post and the club's Facebook post, several Reds fans told of how they had sadly missed out for various reasons.

Evan Meredith said:" I was on well ahead of time, got straight on at 10, but no luck. It’s been the same every time there’s demand, I just don’t know what others do differently? Not sure why I keep putting myself through this, think it’s time to give up."

Paul Williams commented: "And what a farce it was it's basically pot luck if the tickets show up. People who have been to every game missing out to people choosing it as the first away game. Most clubs have loyalty schemes."

Others were successful of course, and some even queued for up to 14 hours outside the STok Cae Ras ticket office to bag their ticket.

Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday (December 19) posted to X to say that fans with 'at least four loyalty points' can now buy a ticket for the Wrexham clash.

Their statement added: "Demand is high so we please ask for patience if trying to get through on the phone."
