A MENTAL health group - attached to all things Wrexham AFC - will be holding a session on Christmas day.

Dragon Chat was set up in 2020 during the height of the covid-19 pandemic.

It was done so by Steve Lloyd with the aim of supporting Reds fans who were experiencing mental health issues.

The group provides a safe space to talk through its peer support groups held via Zoom every Thursday at 7pm.

This Christmas, the group is doing its bit to help tackle isolation by offering a session at 5pm on December 25.

A statement from the group read: "The overall objective for the group is to reduce male suicide by providing a safe place where people feel they have somewhere to talk, without judgement.

"Following these principles will allow us to start tackling the challenges of mental health which exist in our local community."

It added: "There will be a minimum of two experienced facilitators within the group who will be there to ensure everyone is listened to and respected.

"Along with the usual opportunities to discuss the positives and frustrations we offer somewhere you can come along and chat about football and your love of Wrexham AFC.

"By creating a safe, supportive space we can signal to people experiencing poor mental health and/or suicidal thoughts there is hope, we care about them and want to support them.

"Talking is the first step although it can often be the hardest one."
