A SPEEDING nurse has avoided a driving ban after being caught in Flintshire.

Agnieszka Malwina Miranowicz, of Elm Vale in Liverpool, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning.

The 42-year-old had previously admitted one offence of speeding, which took place on the afternoon of March 28.

Prosecutor Brian Robinson told the court the defendant was caught doing 41mph in a 30 zone - at the A548 in Greenfield.

He said an issue for the court to consider was the fact that she already had nine points on her licence, all of which were imposed for previous speeding matters.

Defending herself, Miranowicz asked the court not to disqualify her as to do so would result in exceptional hardship for her and others.

She told the court she works as an agency nurse, working most of her shifts at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

"I have some shifts in Liverpool," she explained, "but not much - I won't be able to survive on that.

"If I am disqualified I won't be able to get any transport [to Ysbyty Gwynedd]."

Miranowicz added that a ban would also impact on her mother and children, with whom she lives.

The Leader:

She explained her mother has numerous health difficulties and she takes her to medical appointments.

The Magistrates opted to grant her exceptional hardship application - confirming that she would not receive a driving ban as a result of her latest speeding offence.

However, she was warned, should she find herself back before the court for speeding again in the next three years, she cannot rely on the same exceptional hardship reasons.

Miranowicz received four penalty points on her licence and must pay a £533 fine, £213 victim surcharge and £110 costs.

She agreed to pay the sums at a rate of £300 a month.
