A CHRISTMAS fundraiser in aid of charity - organised by a Wrexham pub landlord - has collected over £6,000 so far.
Last month, the Leader reported that the Turf's Wayne Jones will donate one full week's 'Butty Van' sales to local charities.
Anything purchased between Monday, December 18 to 23 will be donated to local causes who very much need their support.
On top of this, you can purchase a raffle ticket for just £2 to be in with a chance of winning one of five Football Association Wales' framed portraits which will be signed by AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds himself.
The fundraising page associated with the initiative has now raised just shy of £4,000 and landlord Wayne has confirmed that, in total, over £6,000 has already been raised to support the Wrexham community.
Both Wayne and the Turf have become a household name all around the world thanks to the Welcome to Wrexham documentary all about the city and it's football club, Wrexham AFC.
And that popularity has shone through once more in the fundraiser with donations on the GoFundMe coming in from Missouri, Seattle and more places in the USA.
Posting to the fundraiser page, Wayne wrote: "As the festive season approaches, The Turf Pub in Wrexham is gearing up for its annual Christmas fundraiser, spreading joy and goodwill to support local charities.
"This year, we are thrilled to announce a heart-warming initiative that aims to make a tangible difference in our community.
In the spirit of giving, The Turf Pub is dedicating an entire week to contribute to the well-being of Wrexham. From December 18th to the 23rd, our beloved food truck will be donating a week's worth of profits.
"By savouring the delicious offerings from The Turf's food truck during this period, you not only treat your taste buds but also become an integral part of a community-driven cause.
"Your support ensures that the holiday season is not just about merriment but also about extending a helping hand to those who need it the most.
