A FLINTSHIRE high street bank is set to close its doors next year.

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed that its Shotton High Street branch is closing on March 13, 2024.

The banking group said the closure is due to increasing numbers of customers choosing to bank online.

Lloyd's said 79 per cent of its customers already use other ways of banking, such as mobile, internet or phone banking, as well as other branches.

A Lloyds Bank spokesperson said: “As many customers now choose to bank online or through their mobile app, visits to our Shotton branch have fallen over recent years.

"The local Post Office offers everyday banking, with cash also available at close by free-to-use ATMs, alongside other ways to bank such as online, phone and mobile banking services.”

The nearby Post Office, at 92 High Street, offers personal and business customers everyday banking services, access to cash, paying in of cheques, and more.

The nearest free-to-use ATM is a short walk away, and there are five free-to-use ATMs within half a mile of the closing branch.

In the run up to the branch closure, Lloyds said branch staff will be on-hand to offer support and guidance on the ways customers can bank with them.

After the branch closes, Lloyds said it will have a community banker visit the area, who will continue to offer face-to-face targeted support for as long as the community needs it.

It will discuss with local communities which locations would be appropriate for their community banker to set up in, and on which days.
