THE WEEK of November 20-26 marks National Pizza Week in the United Kingdom - and that's enough to make anyone's mouth water.

And if you're looking for the perfect place to grab a slice or two of cheesy goodness to celebrate that occasion this weekend, then TripAdvisor has you covered.

Aside, from the obvious chains of Pizza Hut, Dominoes and so on, we've looked at the TripAdvisor website to track down the best independent pizza places around in north east Wales.

Here are the top five that we discovered and that TripAdvisor suggests you should visit to enjoy a slice of heaven.

5 Dee Pizza

Where?: Oak Street, Llangollen

Rating: 4.5/5 (104 reviews)

Pizza Review: One customer said: "Ordered a takeaway delivery whilst staying in the Wild Pheasant Hotel, driver was nice and food was hot, I like a kebab and pizza but this was 10x better than anyone I've ever had before! It's all homemade and honestly, I can't say how good it was! Not your typical greasy pizza or kebab, if you want a takeaway you won't go wrong here!"

Another wrote: "We ordered Pizza from Dees and when we stayed in Llangollen, the pizza was lovely and fresh. Base was light and the topping was plentiful and flavoursome, we weren’t disappointed with our pizzas."

4 Alexander's Cafe and Pizzeria

Where?: High Street, Mold

Rating: 4.5/5 (144 reviews)

Pizza Review: One customer wrote: "Best pizza of my life! Blown away by the pizza here! This was my first visit, with a friend, and we will definitely be back. The owners do what they do best: friendly service and a passion for incredible wood-fired pizzas. Quite simply the best I've ever had (including New York City)!"

Another said: "Visiting the area from south Wales and had just returned wet and cold after watching Wrexham AFC. Pizzas and friendly staff definitely cheered us up no end. Excellent food - will be back on our next trip up north."

Pizza Review: One customer said: "Great pizza in Llangollen. Looking for a break from the local cuisine, we’ve stopped at S&G for a pizza. The bistro offers a build-your-own with several items to be added, and Seren (if I properly recall the name of our waitress) even offered a half-half option.

"The service was fast and the pizza came as expected: thin, well prepared, rich with the fixings we asked for."

Another wrote: "Amazing. Was such a lovely meal and was great food, I decided to get a pizza and it was one thing of the nicest pizzas I’ve had."

1 Fouzi's Cafe Bar Pizzeria

Pizza Review: One customer wrote: "Had a meal here last week on our visit to Llangollen. The staff were fabulous very helpful and friendly. My pizza was amazing as was my partners meal. 100% recommend."

Another added: "Really enjoyed our meals, the portions are absolutely huge! Food was really tasty and you can tell it had been freshly cooked. I had a calzone and they don’t scrimp on the fillings and my husband had a pizza which was much better than anything from Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. Very good value for money. The staff are pleasant and polite. A nice ambience in the restaurant."
