ONE LUCKY Wrexham AFC fan could get their hands on a baseball cap signed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney via a raffle in aid of charity.

Lawrence and Amy Guiel, from Oswestry, are taking part in a this year's Strictly Shropshire event, in aid of Hope House.

Following nearly a year's worth of dancing lessons, Lawrence and Amy will be performing the American Smooth to the song 'Gaston' from the film Beauty and the Beast.

Taking place at the Lion Quays Hotel on Friday, November 24, they will be competing against 13 other couples for the title.

As part of their fundraising for the event, they have managed, through a friend, to obtain a cap that has been signed by Wrexham's star owners Rob and Ryan.

Lawrence said: "Our friend, Lucy Taylor from Wrexham, works for Alpine F1 team and when she heard that Rob and Ryan were going to be attending the Las Vegas Grand Prix, she told us she would do her best to do something to help us raise money.

"She stopped by the Wrexham AFC shop and brought the baseball cap and took it with her to Las Vegas. She met both of them and they were more than happy to sign the cap for us.

"She talked to them both at great length about Wrexham town, the football club, the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, and the Strictly Shropshire event. She was over the moon and said they were both absolutely amazing."

Their raffle for the signed cap has, unsurprisingly, already received a lot of attention.

If you're feeling lucky, then you can buy a ticket (or a few) to enter the raffle here (£2).

The raffle will be held on Saturday (November 25) at 12pm and the winner will be announced shortly after.

There is also a chance to win a copy of 'The Voices' DVD, signed by Ryan Reynolds and donated by Rob Clarke at Wrexham's Mad4Movies. Tickets for that can be found here (£2).

To raise further money, Lawrence and Amy have also been to Ysgol Maes Y Llan, in Ruabon, (where Amy teaches) and Woodside Primary school in Oswestry to do assemblies for the children, showing them a few moves from their dance routine and talking about Hope House.

Lawrence added: "The schools raised over £700 in total for us and we were absolutely delighted."

Looking ahead to Strictly Shropshire, Lawrence added: "We wanted to do something fun together that was new to both of us. We really enjoyed the classes and were surprised when Ross (our teacher) asked us to audition for the upcoming event - Strictly Shropshire '23.

"We were very excited to be asked and when we found out more about the event we were very keen to apply. The audition day arrived and we went along to find out more about the charity and how the event runs.

"As part of the audition we also had to join in a dance class where we were shown three different dances, the Cha cha cha, the Waltz and the Charleston. We had so much fun at the audition and waited with bated breath to see if we had been chosen. When we received the email to say we were in, we were both thrilled!"

So far, Strictly Shropshire '23 has raised over £36,000 for Hope House and, as part of their 'Final Moments Matter Campaign', local businesses will match any donations they receive.
