A STALKER and sex offender has been handed a community order after his behaviour towards two women.

Kevin Davies, of Waterloo Close, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Wednesday for sentence.

The 55-year-old had been found guilty after trial of sexual assault and stalking - committed against two different victims.

Prosecutor Grace Carson told the court that the victim of his stalking offence, Dunangthida Chanantho, had been working at a massage parlour in Wrexham.

On January 3 this year, she attended Wrexham Police Station to report that Davies had been harassing her.

He'd been attending her place of work for a few years, but was not considered a regular.

Davies had gone there on December 21 and received a service, but his payment card was declined.

When he came back in on December 27 to pay the owed money, his card was declined once again - but he offered to take Ms Chanantho out for food and drink, which she refused.

Davies went back to the parlour again a few days later to ask for her, but she wasn't working.

The victim was out on a night out a few days later when she spotted Davies.

He followed her as she walked home with a friend and was seen trying to unlock her gate.

The following morning he was back again, repeatedly ringing her doorbell, and turned up at her place of work two more times in the following days.

Ms Carson told the court the sexual assault took place earlier this year, when Davies asked a woman questions of a sexual nature before kissing her cheek without her consent.

The victim, in her impact statement, said the incident left her feeling very intimidated.

Bethan Jones, defending, told the court the mitigation she could offer was limited, given her client's conviction after trial for both offences and his ongoing denial of guilt.

She said: "The thing I would point out is that the period of time involved in the harassment was short.

"Quote often these matters go on for a great deal of time, but this was from New Year's Eve to January 7.

"As far as the sexual assault allegation, there had been a kiss to the cheek which was unwanted and deemed to be sexual in its connotations and words used.

"I have to accept these offences were committed in drink.

"He tells me his drinking, although better now, at the time of the offences was quite high."

Ms Jones said her client was also homeless at the time and "fell in with peers he shouldn't have."

The Magistrates handed down an 18 month community order with 45 sessions on an accredited programme, 45 days of rehabilitation activity and a 120 day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement.

Davies must also pay £1,240 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

An indefinite restraining order was put in place to protect both victims and Davies must register as a sex offender for five years.
