RESIDENTS have been warned about a recent series of fraudulent phone calls aiming to obtain bank details.
The warning came after Flintshire Council was advised that residents have been receiving scam calls claiming they have recently purchased kitchen appliances and are owed money back.
A spokesman for Flintshire Trading Standards explained: "The caller claims they have been overcharged and to have their back details ready for a refund to be paid into.

"This is a scam. Those residents who have contacted us have not purchased any appliances recently and immediately recognised this as a scam.
"Even if you have purchased an appliance recently do not give out your bank details, the company you purchased any appliance from would already have this if you were owed any money, which is highly unlikely.
"Our advice is to never give out your bank details to anyone who cold calls you."
