A STUDENT from a school in Wrexham recently laid a wreath on behalf of the Royal Welch Fusiliers alongside his cousin, a retired military captain.
Freddie Jones of St Paul's VA Primary School in Isycoed laid the commemorative wreath alongside his cousin Paul Gough at the Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium.
On a recent school trip, in which students visited a number of battlefields and museums across France and Belgium, Freddie got the chance to lay the wreath.
A poem, written by Freddie and his classmates was also laid alongside the wreath during the event, which was described as a 'huge honour' for the student and his family.

"Freddie has had an amazing experience visiting the Battlefields and museums in France and Belgium, which he has shared with the rest of our school. Da iawn Freddie, diolch for including us.
"As Freddie's headteacher, I am so proud to have such a kind and caring young man as part of our school community.
"On Sunday we will all take a moment to remember and be thankful for all of those who have served and sacrificed for our nation, Freddie will be remembering his wreath and the poem that he laid at this memorial and I know that this is an experience Freddie will never forget."
