Members of the public have been urged to dispose of unwanted items properly after a Connah's Quay resident received a fine for fly-tipping.
Flintshire Council has confirmed it recently issued a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £300 to an individual who disregarded their duty of care and disposed of a mattress in an alleyway near their property in the Connah’s Quay area.
It came after an investigation was carried out by the Council’s Enforcement Officers following receipt of CCTV footage which captured the event taking place.
Councillor Dave Hughes, Flintshire Council’s cabinet member for streetscene and the regional transport strategy, said: “This is another excellent result for the council in an area where household waste items keep being dumped on the street with no regards for the local community or environment.
"Fly-tipping is never acceptable and is a criminal activity that can cause serious pollution to the environment, can be a risk to human health and can harm wildlife and farm animals, as well as needlessly diverting essential teams away from the frontline of waste collections.”
A council spokesman added: "We urge residents to dispose of their waste items correctly by making use of their doorstep recycling and waste collection service or via one of the five household recycling centres (HRCs).
"Where a resident has a large amount of recycling and waste to dispose of then we recommend utilising the services of an approved skip hire company or waste disposal contractor.
"Further information can be found on the council website."
