THE team at a North Wales animal rescue centre is looking for new homes for their furry residents.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs, horses and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home...

• For more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.

You can also help by fundraising, sponsoring a kennel or supporting one of the NCAR charity shops in the region.

Arina at NCAR.

Arina at NCAR.

• Five-year-old Arina is a very sweet girl who is starting to come out of her shell with staff after being very nervous. She is quite an anxious girl meeting new people but once she feels comfortable with you she will let you know by giving you a lick after sniffing you out. She walks very well on lead and is typically clean in her kennel, so should be fairly well house trained. She can be anxious out on walks especially in places where there is a lot of traffic. She would need to be kept on lead when out on walks. She came into our care after slipping her lead out on a walk and being loose for several days. We do think she may have the potential to live with another calm dog if compatible. Due to her being a nervous girl we are looking for a quiet adult-only home, where she can settle.

Montie at NCAR.

Montie at NCAR.

• Montie is a three-year-old female who came into our care due to a change of circumstances for her owner. She has been very well loved and taken care of and is now looking for a nice new home. She can be rehomed with sensible children aged 6+, she does like her own space sometimes so any children must be respectful of her and let her come to them. She is looking for a home away from busy roads, so she can explore safely once she has settled in her new home. Montie is looking to be the only pet in her next home.

Bodie at NCAR.

Bodie at NCAR.

• Bodie arrived recently as a stray. He is a very shy and timid boy when he first meets you, but given time, he is coming out of his shell each day. He is looking for a very quiet and calm home environment, where he can build up his confidence in his own time, so we feel a home with teenagers 16+ would be best suited to his needs. Since arriving, we have introduced Bodie to different dogs on site and he thoroughly enjoys their company. He will pull towards them and wants to greet every dog he sees. We definitely feel Bodie would be best suited with another calm and confident dog. Bodie definitely is not house trained but advise and guidance will be given to any potential adopters.

Snowflake and Yoda at NCAR.

Snowflake and Yoda at NCAR.

• Snowflake and Yoda are a very sweet pair of little rabbits who came to us due to their owners health, they were very loved but sadly she was unable to take care of them as her health got worse. This beautiful duo are quite senior and are looking for an adult-only retirement home. They would need to live indoors where they can be kept cosy, they are very sociable and do enjoy little cuddles. They do like to run, jump and play and enjoy their food. They would need a loving experienced rabbit family.

Tigs at NCAR.

Tigs at NCAR.

• Tigs is a lovely girl who has recently been returned to us due to her owner not being able to cope with her anymore. She is friendly but is a typical tortoiseshell female and attention can be on her terms sometimes but if people are used to cats and can read their body language it is quite obvious when she isn't in the mood! She is looking for a home with a safe outdoor area for her to explore once she has settled in. Tigs is looking for cat-savvy owners without children. She is looking to be the only pet in her next home as she is very much used to being the centre of attention. Her previous owner described her as quite needy, so she definitely has potential to be a lovely companion.

Donald at NCAR.

Donald at NCAR.

• Donald is a 17-year-old chestnut Dartmoor Hill/Shetland gelding who came to the rescue when his owner died several years ago. He is definitely a little character and is very cheeky. He would be suitable as a companion pony, as he has never been ridden but he likes to be the boss and has lived with a Shetland mare but is not particularly good with other geldings. He is a very chunky little fellow about 10 hands high and is very hardy although he does like to go in the field shelter at night. He is on restricted grazing purely because of his weight which, despite our best efforts never changes. Fortunately though, he is not susceptible to and has never had laminitis although dusty hay can make him a bit wheezy. Donald is ok with the farrier and has his teeth checked annually by our vet.
