A BUSINESS is in 'advanced discussions' to occupy part of the former Debenhams store in Eagles Meadow, Wrexham.

Following a recent meeting with a proprietor of Eagles Meadow, Sarah Atherton MP has shared a series of 'exciting' developments that promise to revitalise the shopping centre and provide new opportunities for small start-up businesses in the area.

Ms Atherton also met with the proprietors in November 2022 to hear about the exciting plans regarding the future of the site.

Wrexham's MP raised the issue of expensive parking at Eagles Meadow and requested that they should ensure there are a range of ways to pay including cash and card, along with the app 'Hozah'.

The latest meeting comes following the "regrettable" departure of the M&S store, which is set to open its new food hall next month.

Following the recent meeting, the key highlights of the upcoming plans for Eagles Meadow include:

  • Eagles Meadow is currently in advanced discussions with a prominent leisure and recreation tenant to occupy the top floor of the former Debenhams store.
  • Eagles Meadow is hoping to secure two new restaurants in the near future and they are exploring the potential of a new food, entertainment, and beverage hub.
  • Eagles Meadow is looking at the possibility of creating pop-up spaces in the shopping centre for start-up/ small businesses in Wrexham.
  • Eagles Meadow aims to become a hub for major events with a target of hosting 10 large events each year, including the Christmas Light Switch On.
  • To compliment Wrexham’s market heritage, Eagles Meadow is looking to create a new outdoor market.
  • Eagles Meadow are continuing to improve their parking facilities.
  • Upholding their commitment to the wider community, Eagles Meadow will maintain their support for various community, charity, and arts organisations, including YAB, PISC, Youth Cymru, and Wrexham Clothing Exchange.

In addition to the potential incomings above, the Christmas Lights Switch on event will be held at Eagles Meadow on Saturday, November 18, from 3-7pm.

There will also be entertainment between 3pm - 5pm from Premier Radio, Urban Fusion and Avant Cymru before the main staged finale countdown which is from 5pm till 7pm.

Commenting on the potential new business at Eagles Meadow, Sarah Atherton MP said:  "These developments represent a momentous step forward, marking the culmination of months of meticulous planning and dedication. Constituents often raise the future of Eagles Meadow with me.

"I’ve seen for myself how the family events are well attended but seeing real progress has taken longer than expected and there is potential to think laterally about providing student accommodation or housing in some areas.
