MEMBERS of the community gathered to release balloons into the sky in a touching tribute to a much-loved footballer.
The Mostyn community has been left completely heartbroken following the death of Kai Davies, 22.
On Monday evening (October, 30), Kai's friends and family gathered in his memory to release balloons into the sky near the Mostyn shops.
The fireworks and red and white balloons represented his love for Liverpool FC.
He leaves behind his mum Louise, dad Phil and brother Brandan.
Together they said: "As a family, we are absolutely devastated by the loss of our son Kai and he is going to be missed more than words could ever describe.
"Kai always had a cheeky smile which he was always well known for and certainly kept our home alive. The support we have received from Greenfield FC, Holywell FC, and our community in Mostyn has been immense.
"His closest of friends have been here and the things they have done down at the bridge and the balloon release along with fireworks and motorbikes has been unbelievable as we understand everyone is hurting and missing Kai as much as ourselves.
"The support and love has given us great comfort and we will be forever grateful.
"Our lives will never be the same without him."
Kai was passionate about football and having played for Holywell Town FC throughout his youth, he recently started playing for Greenfield FC where he made an incredible impact on the club and community.
Following Kai's death on Sunday, October 22, the team paid a touching tribute to their former player with a minute's silence before their game against Rhyl FC on Saturday, (October 28).
On behalf of the club, captain and family friend Danny Calvert said: "Kai loved his football playing from an early age and was a talented player.
"Kai was a funny, loving, caring young man with a big personality who was liked by everyone he met. Gone too soon but will be forever remembered and missed."
Lifelong friend Lewis Pearson said: "Absolutely devastated and lost for words that Kai has sadly passed away. A friendship since we were four years old and one of the most genuine lads I've ever met.
