A WOMAN has been handed a community order after trying to take bottles of booze from two supermarkets.
Trisha Lloyd, of Holt Road in Cross Lanes, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Monday.
The 39-year-old had previously admitted numerous offences - including theft from a shop, attempt theft from a shop, going equipped for theft and criminal damage.
She admitted on Monday that she also failed to surrender to Wrexham Magistrates on October 27.
Prosecutor Diane Williams told the court that on April 27, police were informed about a theft at Morrisons supermarket.
A search of the area was made and Lloyd was located a short distance away.
She made herself known to the police and had a bag for life full of alcohol bottles - constituting the attempt theft.
Then, on August 31, the rest of the offences took place when a member of the public told security at Sainsbury's, Plas Coch Retail Park, that a female had been concealing alcohol in her bag.
When she was spoken to, she revealed a bottle of gin and Jack Daniels, which had been de-tagged.
It was found that she had an open pack of screwdrivers in her possession.
The court heard that the offending also put her in breach of a two year conditional discharge.
A probation officer told the court that when interviewed, the defendant had made clear she does wish to engage in rehabilitative work to address her drug misuse.
Alex Mackenzie, defending, said that while her client was "familiar" to the court, there had been a noticeable gap in her offending.
"Substance misuse generally fuels her offending," she explained.
"It's not sophisticated offending and she gives up the products as soon as she's caught up to - and identifies herself on every occasion.

"She's also someone with significant mental health needs.
"She very much welcomes the help that will come with a drug rehabilitation requirement and is very eager to address this."
Ceri Lewis, Chair of the Magistrates, handed down a 12 month community order with two requirements; 25 rehabilitation activity days and a six month drug rehabilitation requirement.
Lloyd must also pay a £120 fine, £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
